And obviously also the money and knowledge for all that good stuff and work! Did you notice how much time and money you‘ve spent into that car in the meanwhile? Just to know it......or better not...?

lets say i have more knowledge now than i did when it put it together on a very limited budget 25 years ago. Money is only there thanks to some errors by UK backs in the 8=s meaning they had to give me back money i gave them with interest. and then a few years living like a student, and you plan to upgrade the gearbox and brakes and then find the engine needs work. so then do you just do the same or just go all the way. and then you find something else you cheated on 25 years ago that means another Minispares order even when you are waiting on a delivery on the 15th... then there is finding places/people who can do the machining that you need. and then you find a part you ordered does not quite do want you need so you have to do something different and that means more money.

How much i can not say as most of the work was "free" that is to say done by me or with help by friends when first built.

and finally there are the last things. new FIA race suit and new slicks when you see me buying those then you know the car is ready to race. i was planning for this year but it will not be due to the virus but 2021 may be. but it should be "ready" for any Mini events later on this year. i am hoping to be done this month with just about everything. and hope to be back at work full time in May but lets see.

box together just waiting on a few bits to finish it off.

the pinion support housing points to note.

the bottom right mounting to the support has a different thread than the original so needs a replacement stud/bolt original casting was UNC and the support is UNF

also will not work with a lower steady.

    also bought some more spanners

the info is on and inside the original distributor.

the vacuum can should have the Vacuum advance info on it. and the bob weighs inside the distributor will have the distributor advance stamped on them.

if you have the original distributor type and number 4xxxx it may be possible to get the info.

Personally I wouldn't like to sit in a shoe box doing 100mph while two extreme rigid barrels are pointing at my chest.

much safer than the standard car. dont forget i am strapped in and will not be moving. while the standard car has a long shaft firmly connected to the rack pointing straight at your chest.

    but thanks for your concern.

the big bolts should bottom out on the subframe you will feel them come to a stop after they have compressed the rubber. that is a good indicator that you are then only applying a locking force as they are not stretch bolts. it is a bit like the tie bars- (lower front suspension rods) they also need to bottom out before a locking force is applied. the compression of the rubber parts can hide things.

ok the engine situation is in limbo as i have found a nice ***** in between two of the valves so if anyone knows someone who can fix this please let me know

so lets make a jig to get the steering wheel in about the right place.

now making up supports to be welded in place.

you are very lucky that the C washer did not drop and cause you big problems.
