    ok i think my thoughts on silencer size was a bit optimistic.

    Lucking i no longer need to run a Kat so i can increase the silencer size.

    Why do people keep fitting coil springs to a suspension system that was not designed to work with them. As yet I have not seen any that are fit for purpose. They end up going coil bound under full bump as there is not sufficient space between the coils. When the suspension goes solid things break. Radius arm pins bend. HiLos fail. Subframes split and of cause the coils can explode. Sorry bin then and just fit new M Parts rubbers as these are the only ones made to the original specifications. As sold by MiniSpares.

    As some of you will know my time here in Germany is coming to an end. the company is closing the office and we can apply for new jobs in different parts of the company. I was planning on going back to the UK after 10 years but now it is after 8.5 years. i have also decided that it will be easier to go this year as Brexit has messed it up a bit for returning next year.

    so first out with the scrap. unfortunately the old bus is to far gone to fix.

    the car will be off to get the tracking sorted next week and then the front will be back on. and it should be at Marios event at the end of September before it heads back to the UK.

    new coil pack mount made. rad mounts adjusted with carriers for the wiring and sender pipes. just a little bit of wiring to sort and fit the rest of the exhaust.

    and yes it does still all fit under the body.

    most likely long gone. other things to look at for age is the dates on the wiper motor. the boot lock and also the glass. the date of manufacture is in the Dots over and above the makes name.

    interesting. Feb 1963 registered car. down as 1275cc looks like it has tappet covers as there is a breather pipe by the extra steady. look like longman inlets for the split 45s but the Brake MC is not the Cooper S one.

    very much a 70s build with the deseaming and the splits.

    any VIN number i could look up.

    Last issue of ownership paper was 2006

    So on Saturday this happened

    all the breather pipes fitted and there were no conflicts.

    I had also previously changed out the reservoir connections to the master cylinders. works much better.

    Today was spent attaching drive shafts (the short one was a real pain) and connecting the other water pipes and then looking to the electrics. some things have been moved (coil is where i planed the water pump and the water pump is where the coil was.) so will be making a new bracket.

    so today's annoyance Head stud kits.

    even when they are from the same maker you may not get what you think you are getting.

    my ARP head stud kit cam with 4 rocker post studs that were the same length. did not think about if till i came to fit the DSN Oil filler cap


    cap will not fit. standard black or red ones will fit.
    so remove that stud and compare with a new Minispares one

    not much in it but enough to allow the cap to fit.

    it seems that the kit from MED has four studs the same length while the Minispares one has two long and two short ones.

    should be going into the car tomorrow.
